General Counsel at the American Immigration Legal Centre, Dr. Diane Moore-Eubanks is issuing a resolute reminder to Jamaicans wishing to migrate in 2023 to exercise patience with the process and follow the legitimate protocols.

She says one of the essential steps is to have a sponsor or file an immigration petition. However, she explains there are several options, which are tailored to persons’ specific needs.  The two-decade long immigration practitioner insists prospective immigrants need to show how they will care for themselves while living in the USA.

She stresses the need to seek professional help with the process and offers some hope to illegal immigrants who wish to adjust their status. Meanwhile, Eubanks says the 2023 immigration reforms will see rising fees, immigration backlog and strengthening of border controls. She says there has also been an uptick in applications for citizenship and is encouraging Jamaicans to seek dual citizenship to reap the benefits of both worlds.
