Jamaicans are being encouraged to take the necessary actions to promote heart health thereby reducing the risks of cardiovascular diseases. Acting Chief Medical Officer of the Heart Foundation of Jamaica Dr Simone Spence says while heart disease and stroke remain the leading cause of death in adults globally, children are also becoming increasingly vulnerable.

During a recent press launch for heart month 2023 at the terra nova hotel in Kingston, acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Simone Spence says heart disease and stroke accounts for thirty percent of deaths in Jamaica. Dr Spence says it is important for every adult to do regular screening to know the status of their heart health.
