Public opinion on the COVID-19 vaccine: There is now a turning point in the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, as the stamp of approval for the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine came last week.

Locally, there are heightened concerns surrounding vaccination for the deadly virus, as thousands of people in the United Kingdom and the United States have now been vaccinated.

Jamaica, being part of the Covax facility, stands to benefit from the vaccine, with access perhaps in the second half of 2021.

Many are willing to take the shots while others are opposed to the idea and some remain uncertain.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness in Parliament on Tuesday, December 15, declared he will be taking the vaccine and is encouraging the public to follow suite.
