Given the current health crisis and continued COVID-19 restrictions, our news centre sought to find out what pressure is being brought to bear on vendors in Downtown Kingston this Christmas.

CVM Live visited the streets of Downtown Kingston, Monday to observe how vendors were coping ahead of Christmas in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

There was little social distancing; however most persons were wearing masks. There was also no strong police presence. This vendor says the holiday is not looking progressive.

However this man says the pandemic has not hindered persons from shopping and not all businesses have been affected.

One woman suggests persons come out earlier to sell their wares.

Meanwhile, a Sociologist at the University of the West Indies, Michael Barnett says the pandemic has not only affected Christmas celebrations but other events of 2020.
