On August 14, the government closed 17 beaches in continuous breach of the COVID-19 protocols across the island. Among them, Boston and Winnifred beaches in Portland.
The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development had said the beaches would be monitored to ensure they remain closed until permission is given for re-opening. However, operators say they were to be reopened 2 weeks after but they haven’t heard a word from the ministry since.
