“Jamaica will be back on track in the next twelve months” that’s the word from Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke. He says in comparison to the slow economic recovery from 1978 through to 1989, the economy has garnered a faster pace in the past two years since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke while addressing comrades at an area council meeting at the Brown’s Town high school in St. Ann, alluded to the struggle of the Jamaican economy in the late 70’s to late 80’s. He also points out the length of time the economy was able to bounce back in the late 2-thousands to recent times; noting that both times were lengthy and posed a major challenge for Jamaicans.

However, to date, the Finance Minister says since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the government has garnered speed in economic recovery, adding that with the fast-paced recovery amid the pandemic, Jamaica is currently one of the countries ahead in the region regarding economic recovery.
