Ten farmers in St. Ann are looking to boost their production levels after they received the benefit of irrigation upgrade that promise to be fruitful.
The Rural Agriculture Development Authority (RADA), says the systems will especially be helpful during extensive periods of drought.
The Office of the Member of Parliament partnered with the Rural Agricultural Development Authority to install gravel irrigations systems in Kimma District, Springs and Bamboo in St. Ann.
This farmer says a boost in irrigation will without a doubt increase her level of production.
One farmer, Mr. Williams says the gravity irrigation system will allow him to get more for less.
The RADA Parish Manager, Jasmine Hyde, says the irrigation upgrade system will boost the agricultural resilience in the area as unseasonal drought periods are increasing amid the climate crisis.
The farmers were provided with black tanks and hundreds of seedlings.
North Western St. Ann Member of Parliament Krystal Lee says, it was also important for the farmers to receive training in order to harvest the best results.
