There has been an increase in the number of suspected and confirmed cases of covid-19 in schools over the past two to three weeks. Education Minister Fayval Williams made the disclosure on Thursday.

There were 138 suspected and confirmed cases of COVID-19 among teachers and students during the first week of May. Education Minister Fayval Williams made the disclosure during a virtual press briefing on Wednesday, May 18. The second week of May saw a further increase with 446 suspected cases among students and 136 confirmed. 

In responding to confirmed and suspected cases of the virus, Minister Williams says some high schools have reverted to online learning for some of their students. She added the ministry recently disseminated a bulletin, alerting stakeholders about the current situation and reminding them to enforce the COVID-19 protocols.
