A house fire at the weekend is making the rounds on social media following speculation that the fire was caused by a hybrid vehicle while charging at the house. Early Saturday morning, a hybrid mini-cooper caught fire while connected to its electric charging port on Widcombe Drive in Hope Pastures, St. Andrew.
Flames spread to the front section of the house while the owners, a woman, and her mother, were asleep but the smell of smoke alerted them to the danger afoot. CVM LIVE understands the owner then pressed a panic button in the residence notifying the fire brigade and police. The owner of the vehicle was still too shaken to comment on the incident, but her friend and neighbour, who says her house and vehicle were also in direct line of the fire, says she initially thought it was an attempted break-in.
