Health Workers in Western Jamaica Test Positive for COVID-19

Earlier this week, several staff at some Western Health Region Hospitals tested positive for COVID-19. The head of the western regional health authority while providing data on Friday, says the statistics are of grave concern.

In the meantime, he notes based on information gathered the infections may be caused by community spread. On Friday CVM Live sat down with Clinical Coordinator for the Western Regional Health Authority, Dr. Delroy Fray who gave an update after health workers had recently tested positive for covid-19.

At the Noel Holmes Hospital he notes only one nurse tested positive while there were no COVID-19 positive patients. Meanwhile at the Falmouth hospital in Trelawney 4 nurses were COVID-19 positive and there were 12 COVID-19 patients along with 11 suspected cases.

Dr. Fray also provided data for Friday at the Cornwall Regional Hospital. This he points out is of major concern given the significance in the data for both the 6th and 7th.

According to Dr. Fray the information suggests that the infections are as a result of community spread.
