Half Way Tree sanitized on No-Movement Day – While some families use Sunday as their cleaning day, Mayor for the Kingston Municipality shared a similar sentiment on Sunday afternoon, by washing the streets of Half Way Tree to destroy sites that may breed the novel coronavirus while encouraging the citizens of Jamaica to get vaccinated.

Mayor of Kingston and St. Andrew Delroy Williams was out in the empty streets of Halfway Tree on Sunday sanitizing all the nooks and crannies that are possible breeding grounds for the coronavirus. The Mayor says this has been a practice of the municipality since the beginning of the virus outbreak in Jamaica.

Mayor Williams says the no movement day gives them the advantage to clean the streets without the traffic. Williams says the public cleansing programme started because of the pandemic however, he says this will be a consistent feature of the municipality duties.

In addition to the sanitization of the streets, Mayor Williams said that the municipality will also be on the ground to encourage citizens to get vaccinated. He explains that sensitization to vaccines in the communities is another major task the municipality is engaged in as he believes a nation that is vaccinated is one step closer to normalcy.
