The People’s National Party (PNP), Councillor for the York Town Division in Clarendon, Uphell Purcell is calling out members of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and the Management of the Ebony Park Academy, for allegedly sidelining the Opposition from a recent local event.
Uphell says the move to not include the Opposition is disrespectful and the JLP should have ensured the Opposition was represented. What was intended to be an expose of the excellence of students at the Ebony Park Heart Academy on Friday on their Open Day quickly resulted in more, with a political twist. Guest speaker and Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Pearnel Charles Jr saw it as a chance to witness and remind Jamaicans of the excellence in training. However, Councillor for the York Town Division, the Opposition’s Uphell Purcell is alleging no invitation was sent to the Opposition to share in the valuable moment. An act he sees as a sign of gross disrespect. Purcell says he is sure other JLP Councillors were invited, but alleges the Opposition members were deliberately left out. Watch the report:
