State Minister for National Security Zavia Mayne, says the government will continue its thrust to combat the scourge of trafficking in persons using appropriate legislation and necessary legal actions. He was speaking at an award ceremony for the Art for Freedom, Stop Human Trafficking Competition. The Minister believes all steps taken in the fight against human trafficking are geared towards improving Jamaica’s tier 2 ranking.

With the notion of human trafficking being mainly a first-world issue, the State Minister emphasized traffickers have multiple areas of operation and often times target vulnerable and impoverished locations.
