While stressing that family is the bedrock of society, the Opposition Leader has called for a strengthening of families in an effort to build a stronger society. He was speaking at the National Day of Prayer at the Power of Faith Ministries in Portmore, St. Catherine yesterday.

Weak family structures are responsible for many of the country’s problems such as high levels of violent crimes. This according to Opposition Leader Mark Golding who says institutions such as the church, school and workplace support family life in critical ways, but none, as vital as they are, can be a substitute for a strong family life.

He’s encouraging continued focus on building institutions and programmes which support good parenting and strengthen families. Noting that prayer is key in bringing many families closer together, especially as the country grapples with the public health crisis, Golding urges all to pray for the nation’s families, just as they do for the country.
