Grief was one of the moods at the Ritchie’s Primary School in Clarendon, as the school’s administration mourned the loss of their PTA President, Melissa Claire-Wright. CVM LIVE understands that 42-year-old wright who was also a businesswoman was shot and killed by unknown assailants in what appears to be a home invasion, in Battersea, Clarendon on Wednesday.

Melissa Claire Wright, a funeral home owner, was home with her family when two men kicked off their door; one armed with a gun and the other with a knife. They instructed the family members to leave the room, and demanded money from Wright, before shooting her several times.

The police were alerted and Wright was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced. Acting Principal for Ritchie’s Primary, Marshalee Dale- Powell, says the school will miss her dearly.

Member of Parliament for Northwest Clarendon, Richard Azan, says he is disappointed with Jamaica’s violent culture.

In this report, a relative of the decease described Wright as kind, jovial and God-fearing. No other family member was hurt in the incident. Watch it here:
