Communities island-wide are on high alert during this hurricane season and ensuring drain systems are up to par. However, a former Councillor claims the drains in his community have not been cleaned for years.
Former PNP Councillor Sylvan Reid, claims the drainage systems in Salt Spring, St. James is being grossly neglected by the relevant authorities. Reid alleges the drains have not been cleaned since his departure from the division, three years ago. Decrepit conditions caused by the alleged neglect poses major health and flood risks for residents especially now, during hurricane season. Watch the report:
