Despite attempting to allay fears of predicted heavy rain until Thursday, a local forecaster is urging persons to be alert and avoid flood-prone areas; this as sections of the country already experiencing flooding and related deaths could see more disasters over the period.
Forecaster at the Met Service of Jamaica, Carolyn Peck, says Jamaicans can expect more rainfall in sections of the country due to a trough. There were intermittent showers impacting sections of the island from earlier in the week however things are likely to get even wetter due to the changes. Peck is advising that the potential increase in rainfall, may not be constant heavy rain across the island, however, some areas could still experience flooding.
Meanwhile, the duty forecaster says the met office will continue to monitor the system for the next few days. She’s encouraging people to take precautions.
