Flood Waters Gush Across Jamaica Due To Heavy Rains

Flood waters gushed across the island on Tuesday as heavy showers triggered by the passing Hurricane Delta, impacted the island.

The excessive rainfall has left many residents in the Corporate Area and rural Jamaica crying  for help as they anticipate more intense rains in coming days.

The continuous heavy rainfall has left much damage in its wake, rendering several roadways impassable with motorists and pedestrians stranded.

In videos circulating, a motorist attempts to push his vehicle through the waters on Marcus Garvey Drive. While passengers of a coaster bus existed the bus, seeking refuge on the median. 

There have also been  incidents of landslides in sections of the country.

A Hampton Green resident in St. Catherine demonstrated how high the water has risen in his backyard on Tuesday morning, by standing in the water and showing that it was just above his waist.

“We suffer too long, a twenty-add years now we a go with this and we need relevant authority fi intervene right now…” he said.              

In Marverly, St. Andrew, a resident attempts to create an escape route for rising waters in his yard. Residents told our news team, this is a recurring problem; when it rains in a matter of minutes their homes are flooded.

Water has settled in most of the homes in the area and the residents say it may be weeks before it subsides.

Mr. Peart has been living on Helm Road for decades.

The Residents are appealing for the situation to be addressed as the country is expected to receive more heavy rains in coming days.
