Who is signing off at the Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA)? There seem to be more questions than answers as CVM LIVE takes a closer look at the application and approval process for a gun license in Jamaica. Shane Dalling- CEO, FLA explains that any question relating to license approval and denial rests at the feet of the related board.

The law allows for what should be clear lines of demarcation between the executive and the related boards. CVM LIVE hopes to make contact with the board chairman on these and related matters. Among the questions why after a license is denied by the board of which the CEO is not a part, is the decision sent back to the executive to sign off on.  On what basis can a director or lower-level staff sign a denial … In some cases, the document simply says for the director of application and certification?

Several letters of denial have been signed by the direction of application and certification, also a member of the executive. Was there a time when pre-approval letters were sent to the board by the executive?

Additionally, more Jamaicans have sent questions to our newsroom surrounding the efficiency of a new FLA office in Discovery Bay, St Ann. Sources tell us the property sits on lands belonging to an MP. The saga continues.
