Residents who were victims of fire in Central Kingston were on Friday granted new homes under the government Social Housing Program. Prime Minister Andrew Holness who spearheaded the handing-over ceremony says the government will be moving in steps to correct all the other infrastructure in the area.

Keynote speaker Prime Minister Holness in his address on Friday, notes Central Kingston which was once part of old Kingston, is in need of major renovation. He adds the roads in the area are the only infrastructure to date that has managed to be maintained. The Prime Minister said the government is working through phases to correct the other necessities that need to be restructured. However, this particular visit is geared toward fire victims in the community. Noting that the area has recorded the most fires on the island.

Lloyd George-White is one of the beneficiaries of the program, he once occupied a wooden structure that was destroyed by fire. He expressed gratitude as he opened the doors to his new home. Watch the report:
