More than three dozen case files relating to financial crimes totaling $150 million will proceed in the local courts following a UK Privy Council ruling.

The cases were halted after the Court of Appeal ruled that forfeited cash seized by the Financial Investigations Division be returned to the accused and the case dropped.

But that was overturned by the Privy Council which opens the gateway for dozens of people charged with financial crimes to be prosecuted.
