Concerns have again been raised about the Rose Hall main road in Montego Bay, St. James after a five-vehicle collision claimed the life of one man and injured 4 others, this week.
Councillor for the Rose Hall Division in St. James, Anthony Murray is calling for infrastructural changes to the Rose Hall main road following a fatal five-vehicle collision, Wednesday, September 29.
He notes that policing is needed in the area, describing the rose hall main road as a speeding track for motorists.
The Councillor says streetlights along the road also need to be repaired or replaced.
Wednesday’s accident claimed the life of fifty-three-year-old Lincoln Blake, a vendor of Wellington Street, Falmouth, Trelawny, and saw 4 others being admitted to hospital.
Reports from the Barrett Town police are that about 6:20 pm, Blake was heading towards Montego Bay in a Toyota Townace, when upon reaching a section of the rose hall main road; he allegedly swerved to avoid collision with a Nissan Ad wagon car, which stopped suddenly.
Blake’s vehicle subsequently collided with a Mack cement mixer truck that was traveling in another lane, then the left section of the Nissan car; causing his vehicle and the truck to climb a median before entering opposite lanes of traffic.
Both vehicles then collided with a Toyota coaster and Toyota corolla before overturning. CVM Live spoke with a co-worker of the driver of the cement mixer truck.
Meanwhile, the police are appealing to the driver of the Nissan ad wagon, who fled the scene of the accident, to report to the Barrett Town or the nearest police station immediately.
