An investigation was launched into the death of six-year-old T’Mora McCallum of Solitaire Road, Kingston 11 who died from a single gunshot wound she sustained while at a premises on Text Lane, on Monday.

The community is in mourning for 6-year-old T’Mora, who was just three weeks away from her 7th birthday on December 27. Our news team visited the area on text lane where the feeling of despair and sadness, was palpable, as the family struggles to come to terms with the tragedy.

T’mora’s grandmother, Angela Baldy, says they are traumatized, struggling to come to grips with the reality, of what was a careless act. She shares that her granddaughter was a promising girl, very fond of dancing, and excelled in her class at the St. Aloysius Primary School.

In a release from the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the suspect immediately fled the area but later that evening, returned and was mobbed and beaten by residents and is currently hospitalized under police guard.

Police are appealing to witnesses to come forward and give information about the incident. Meanwhile, citizens are urged to refrain from harboring individuals who are part of criminal networks and carry out illegal activities.
