Entertainment players trying to increase economic activity: With the future of tourism and entertainment in the town of Negril hanging in the balance, the main focus of players in both industries is to increase economic activity given the limitations the country is faced with due to the public health crisis.
The President of the Negril Entertainment Association (NEA), Ryan Morrison says the COVID-19 pandemic has inhibited mass gatherings, dining experience, coupled with background music, has become the town’s greatest assets.
But he says, despite the limitations stemming from the virus, there’s still a demand for entertainment, therefore a temporary solution has to be improvised.
He adds, that while some customers have adjusted to the islandwide curfew hours, players in the entertainment industry are hoping to find other ways to increase economic activity.
But on the flip side, Morrison says the pandemic has given businesses time to reset , therefore customers can expect improvements in the quality of products and services offered in the resort town.
He also notes that during this time of reset, more man-hours and consultations should be put into the industry.
Although, it has not been organized, it has been very impactful, Morrison says.
Meanwhile, managing director at bourbon beach hotel outlines how his business has been coping with the crisis.
He says he’s now looking forward to the winter tourist season.
