E-Ticket System to Roll Out by Year End

Jamaicans can expect to transition from a paper ticket system to an electronic system by the end of the year as the country acquires more e-ticketing devices.

The Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson in providing an update, highlighted road usage statistics while lauding the implementation of the new Road Traffic Act.  Following myriad changes to the new road traffic act, Jamaicans are encouraged to brace themselves for the full rollout of an e-ticket system by the end of the year. There are already 820 e-ticketing devices to be rolled out across the country.

Welcoming the new Road Traffic Act, Major General Antony Anderson says it aligns with the overall modification of the traffic management system. While citing some of the changes afoot, he says the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has increased the number of traffic tickets by sixty per cent in 2021 and 2022. Commissioner Anderson says while there are still changes to be made to parts of the legislation, it’s being amended for everyone’s safety.
