Murders and other crimes are on the decline in St. Ann, but according to DSP Linton Bailey there is the issue of break-ins. Meantime, he says the police continue to ramp up their investigative efforts.
St. Ann has recorded 41 murders since the start of the year; this compares to 50 murders during the same period in 2020.
The update comes from Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of crime in the parish, Linton Bailey. DSP Bailey says there is a reduction in most categories of crime but adds that break-ins pose a challenge. He notes that residents should ensure their properties are properly secured and that they should alert the police whenever they will be away from home for an extended period of time.
Meanwhile, he says investigations into a 2019 murder in the parish are still ongoing. He says on September 19, 2019 the body of a male was found along a roadway in Discovery Bay, with a gunshot wound to the head. He notes that the body still remains unidentified. DSP Linton Bailey is also asking for the public’s assistance to identify the dead man and in apprehending the following suspects.
