Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton says COVID-19 Antigen test kits must be approved by the World Health Organization (W.H.O) and validated by the National Public Health Lab.
However, he says smuggled test kits are also being used, the results of which are often inaccurate.
At the same time, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor-Mckenzie says, Antigen testing of symptomatic persons usually provides accurate results.
Meanwhile, Dr. Tufton says the high cost of COVID-19 tests is discouraging persons from getting tested when necessary.
The CMO says Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing is available free of cost at almost all health centres across the island.
