“Citizens must take greater responsibility” – On Tuesday, March 17 Jamaica confirmed its first Coronavirus, COVID-19 related death. Today. One hundred deaths later the virus continues to spread across the island in the community transmission phase. On Tuesday, September 29, Jamaica recorded eight new COVID-19 deaths – the highest number of deaths in any 24 hour period.

And the second time the country has recorded this many deaths in one day. In September alone Jamaica has so far recorded eighty (80) COVID-19 related deaths. In his parliamentary address, Health Minister Dr. Christopher says citizens must take greater responsibility to suppress the spread of the virus.

Globally deaths have surpassed one million with confirmed cases fast approaching 33. 5 million; Dr. Tufton is urging Jamaicans to act according to the scientific data in protecting themselves against the virus.

Minister Tufton is further dispelling talks of the Jamaican government being involved in vaccine conspiracy.

He says the false narrative is a distraction to the efforts of the government. Jamaica now has six thousand four hundred and eight reported cases of the virus, with four thousand four hundred and fifty-one being active cases.
