Detectives assigned to the major investigations division are probing the murder of two men, said to be cousins in Falmouth, Trelawny. Chevon and Fabian Williams were murdered along Peel Street in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

It’s reported that, residents heard loud explosions and summoned the police who on arrival found Fabian suffering from gunshot wounds and Chevon’s body in the mangrove.

Fabian died while undergoing treatment at hospital. Both men were reportedly returning from a shop when they were pounced upon by a lone gunman who shot them before fleeing the scene on foot. The deceased, both masons, are from Brown’s Town, St. Ann and are said to have moved to Falmouth to work on construction sites. Deputy Superintendent Winston Milton who’s the acting commander for the Trelawny division says in recent times, there’s been a significant increase in the number of migrants seeking employment in the blooming construction industry.

The police are yet to establish a motive for Thursday’s double murder. Trelawny has now recorded 21 murders since the start of the year; 15 more murders when compared to the same period in 2021.
