Blacks are three times more likely to die from COVID-19 – Doctors have concluded that people of African descent are three times more likely to die from the Coronavirus, COVID-19 when compared to other ethnicities.

The experts have caused a stir within the black community as the virus continues to wreak havoc on the globe. The findings and concerns were raised during a recent vaccine webinar.

Dr. Gary Rhule, an internal medicine physician who participated in the Caribbean community COVID-19 vaccine webinar says people who are of African descent are three times more likely to die from coronavirus

Rhule, an internal medicine physician, says herd immunity is not practical therefore taking the vaccine will help to prevent the minorities from contracting the virus along with following the additional protocols of masking; sanitizing and social distancing will prevent the spread.

Medical Doctor Cindy Duke, Clinical Assistant Professor, and virologist say not only are blacks the most affected group during the pandemic the technology used in hospitals to test oxygen levels is not effective for persons of colour.

Duke says this gives leeway for persons of colour to be misdiagnosed which accounts for many fatalities.

Doctor Swinburne Agustine, research microbiologist and immunologist says not only has the vaccine taken a heavy toll on the black population, blacks are underrepresented in clinical trials due mostly to socioeconomic struggles which is problematic
