The ongoing salary negotiations between the Ministry of Finance and the Department of Correctional Services seem far from a resolution. Correctional officers are adamant about their demand for increased compensation, believing that their current remuneration is unjust. The highly anticipated meeting between the Ministry of Finance and the unions representing the Department of Correctional Services staff ended in a stalemate on Thursday.

This meeting aimed to resolve the deadlock that has left correctional officers among the public sector groups yet to accept the government’s proposed wage offer. Unfortunately, the officers rejected the offer, stating it resembled the previous one too closely. Everton Thompson, an executive delegate of the University and Allied Workers Union, expressed that the officers are deeply dissatisfied with the situation. Watch the report:
