The People’s National Party (PNP) Councillor for St Catherine Eastern halted road works in Waterford on Saturday, claiming that the Member of Parliament was using his position to hire only Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) laborers.
However, JLP’s Member of Parliament for St. Catherine South Eastern, Robert Miller is fiercely refuting those claims.
Some residents were complaining bitterly about not being part of the road work but before the situation could escalate to a protest, Coucillor for the area Fenley Douglas intervened. He says that the National Works Agency failed to inform residents and Councilor of the project.
He is alleging Waterford residents are slowly suffering the effects of political victimization, claiming only JLP supporters were hired to work on the construction team.
