In a bid to increase healthy food consumption, the Ministry of Health in partnership with the Education Ministry held a consultation session on the National Nutrition Policy on Tuesday. The Health Minister says this initiative is important in safeguarding young people’s health.
Following the launch of the National School Nutrition policy green paper initiative, stakeholders from the ministries of health and education hosted a consultation session at the merl grove high school in St. Andrew, Tuesday.
The National School Nutrition Policy was crafted by the government through the Ministry of Education and Youth with collaborating ministries and agencies. Health Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton notes the policy seeks to ensure that children entering educational facilities are exposed to good nutrition and healthy lifestyles.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Fayval Williams says all hands are on deck in ensuring the schools adjust to promote healthier lifestyles among students. the nutrition policy for schools was approved by the cabinet in may this year. Watch the full report below:
