Confessed Killer Robert Fowler to Be Sentenced on May 4

“25 to 30 years,” confessed killer Robert Fowler could be facing such a sentence for the 2021 murder of 20-year-old Accounting Clerk, Khanice Jackson. The submission was made by the prosecution in the Supreme Court on Thursday after it was established that the aggravating factors outweighed the mitigating factors.  St. Catherine mechanic Robert Fowler, who entered a guilty plea to the murder of 20-year-old Accounting Clerk Khanice Jackson, returned to the Supreme Court on Thursday.

Jackson, who resided in independence city, Portmore, St. Catherine, was found dead on March 26, 2021, two days after she had been reported missing. Her decomposing body was discovered in an open lot near the Portmore fishing village. Fowler was taken into custody and charged after he reportedly confessed.

Presiding over the case is Chief Justice Leighton Pusey, who received submissions arguing that Fowler should be sentenced to between 25 to 30 years for the murder. However, Fowler’s Lawyer Lyndel Wellesley, in his submission, recommended his client’s sentencing be under 20 years. The aggravating factors were then highlighted, pointing to Fowler’s abuse of trust, how the deceased was killed, the age of the deceased as well as Fowler’s attempts to hide the crime. In addition, a section of his caution statement was false, with him stating that he saw Jackson and a male arguing at a bus stop in Portmore and attempted to help her.

However, when the police searched Fowler’s home, they discovered rope that he used to bound Jackson’s hands and feet. Jackson’s autopsy report indicates that she was strangled to death.

It was also revealed that Fowler, to date, has not displayed any signs of remorse. Three statements from Jackson’s relatives were also presented to the court, all of which highlighted the traumatic impact her death had on the family.
