The government has budgeted additional funds to bolster the construction of more water shops across Jamaica, in areas that have been parched for years, like a Portland district that now has its own source.
The commodore district in Portland is the second to receive a water shop over the weekend. Minister of Local Government Desmond Mckenzie who spoke with our news team says the government has provided additional funds to construct more water shops across the island.
Minister Mckenzie notes that parishes have been grappling with the financial burden of trucking water. He says the ministry will render assistance for trucks.
