The case against former Education Minister Ruel Reid, Caribbean Maritime University (CMU) President, Fritz Pinnock and their co-accused has been adjourned until December 11.

Reid, his wife Sharen, their daughter Sharelle, Pinnock and Brown’s Town Division Councillor, Kim Brown Lawrence are facing corruption charges.

The case was adjourned on Friday, October 30, in the Corporate Area Parish Court, in Halfway Tree.

Legal submissions were made by Attorney Hugh Wildman, representing both Ruel Reid and Professor Fritz Pinnock.

Wildman has maintained that the charges laid against his clients by the Financial Investigation Division (FID), are null and void and of no effect.

According to Wildman, after the submissions were heard, the prosecution asked for a further court date to be set.

In April, an application was filed in the Court of Appeal seeking leave to go to the UK Privy Council. This in an attempt to get the charges dropped. This was after an application to grant a judicial review was denied by the Supreme Court.

He adds that both Reid and Professor Pinnock are confident that the charges will not stand.
