Citizens are again being warned against hindering the security forces as they carry out their duties. The call follows several altercations between members of the security forces and citizens, of which at least two instances went viral on social media. 

Following several confrontations between citizens and security forces recently, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, Senior Superintendent Steve McGregor is warning persons to refrain from impeding the police while carrying out their duties. 

Senior Superintendent McGregor says he has noticed citizens obstructing the police’s actions, often to release the person being arrested. However, he is warning that could be dangerous. Speaking at a community sports day in Dunkirk, Kingston on Monday, SSP McGregor says gangs are targeting teenage boys to help with carrying out acts of criminality. 

He is urging parents to seek police help or that of their pastors if their sons are out of control. Meanwhile, Commander for the Kingston Eastern Division Tommy Lee Chambers tells CVM LIVE, that she has seen a reduction in crime in Area Four communities since the first sporting intervention.  Watch the report below:
