Church leaders are spreading the word as they encourage Christians and every Jamaican to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. During one of several meetings held by the Health Ministry on Thursday, August 19, the leaders encourage the locals to arm themselves with the facts about the vaccines lest they be led astray by false findings.

To debunk vaccine conspiracy theories and the widespread misinformation about the available vaccines, the Government has made the move to strengthen its partnership with social institutions.

Leaders of the major Christian denominations were in one accord as they urge Jamaicans to follow the science and get vaccinated. Archbishop, Kenneth Richard from the Roman Catholic Church, says Christians alone can play a significant role in the country achieving herd immunity.

Part of the vaccine hesitancy stems from comparing the power of the vaccine to the power of God.

President of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Jamaica, Pastor Everette Brown, says Jamaicans must not ignore the facts. Meanwhile, Reverend Dr. Peter Garth is urging Jamaicans to get the correct information and not to make uninformed decisions that might impact them negatively.

All the church leaders on the panel are fully vaccinated.
