Several communities along the Rio Cobre River in Bog Walk, St. Catherine are being advised not to eat any fish or drink from the river after reports of an alleged chemical spill.  The residents say they woke up to a staunch odor coming from the river and dead fish on the riverbanks.

The National Environmental Planning Agency (NEPA) says their preliminary reports show that the caustic soda has been overflowing from WINDALCO, a bauxite and alumina complex further upstream.
