All is not so bright for Pine Tree Vendors just outside the Village Plaza in the Half-Way Tree this Christmas. With only three days before Christmas, the farmers say business has been slower when compared to last year. They surmise the pandemic has played a part.
Pine tree farmers especially look forward to this time of the year, when they get to reap what they’ve been sowing. The business, they say has been slow so far when compared to the previous year.
The farmers told our news team that the average tree is four feet long, and takes up to three years to grow. Due to the low sales, several trees have gone to waste. The farmers are asking Jamaicans to patronize them this season.
