The scamming-filled and drug-riddled music that has dominated the Jamaican music industry in recent times has been banned from the airwaves. The Broadcasting Commission made the announcement Tuesday, adding, even the edited versions of those songs are prohibited. 

Amid what has been declared to be a shift so big in the Jamaican music landscape, that it normalizes and glorifies drug use, scamming and other illegal activities,

The Executive Director of the Broadcasting Commission, Cordel Green, admits people may turn to online platforms to consume the content, as the Commission cannot regulate those mediums. Nonetheless, he says the Commission must still uphold its principles as society’s gatekeepers. Edited versions of songs containing the prohibited lyrics have also been banned. More details in the report:
