Booted National Reserve Officers called to assist National Security – Dozens of officers within the Jamaica National Reserve who were reportedly booted from camp recently may still be in a job following Prime Minister Andrew Holness’s announcement to deploy soldiers to assist the police for the Christmas period.
Almost one month ago, some officers in the highest rank of the Jamaica National Reserve, the legacy call out class, revealed that they were being made to stand down, a term similar to a demotion in the military.
At the time, the officers told CVM Live that they were forced to go on mandatory leave after not passing some requirement tests. The soldiers argued that the process to retake exams established by the Jamaica Defense Force was not followed.
Dozens of soldiers who have given years of service now unemployed and without a pension; they were appealing to the Prime Minister Andrew Holness, the Minister of Defense, to intervene.
A cry that appears to have been answered by the Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Friday, November 27. CVM Live understands that the officers were recently given a second chance to re-take their tests.
Meanwhile, the major urban areas and town centres are expected to be crawling with soldiers and police for the Christmas period. This happens as the Govt ramps up its visibility in anticipation of the silly season.
