Only 4 days into 2022 and already Westmoreland has recorded its second double murder; a total now of 5 murders since the New Year. The latest double murder of two brothers took place in the wee hours of Tuesday morning in Petersfield.

The community of Carawina, Petersfield Westmoreland, has been left reeling from Tuesday’s murder of 2 brothers, 43- year old Dervin Jones and 41-year old Sheldon Jones otherwise called ‘four’, just a stone’s throw from their houses. A brother of the men, both masons, reportedly discovered their bodies around 5 am, after gunshots were heard around midnight.

Four children are now fatherless and their mother- Sheldon’s other half- is contemplating how she’ll get by. She recounts her last moments with him on Monday, when he gave her funds to purchase school items for their son.

‘Overwhelming’ is too soft an emotion to describe what the men’s siblings are feeling, having not recovered from their mother’s death almost 6 months ago. They are still trying to put together the pieces of the puzzle. The police say investigations continue.

Tuesday’s double murder follows a bloody new year’s day with two men being killed in Cornwall Mountain and another in retreat, Negril.
