The anticipation around the reopening of beaches since the announcement by Prime Minister Andrew Holness has finally been satisfied. Business operators and patrons alike have expressed delight, that this treasured space, which means more than recreation to many is now accessible, following months of frustration.

The operator of the Boston Beach Complex in Portland, Collin Bell is breathing a sigh of relief now that the beach has been reopened.

He says it has been very difficult being out of business for so long. When CVM live visited Boston Beach on Saturday, the COVID-19 protocols were in place.

And visitors were being reminded to comply. Meanwhile, treasurer of the Free Winnifred Benevolent Society, Cynthia Miller who has also been operating a cookshop on the Winnifred Beach for the last 25 years says due to the beach being closed for so long, most of the shops are in need of repairs.
