A mother is grieving the loss of her child, after being told that her baby was cremated, without her consent.

The situation is being described as another case of Public Hospital mismanagement and negligence.

The mother, who is Salvi Perry says the cremation of her baby was the conclusion to a strange sequence of events.

Baby Kade Hamilton who was born on January 18 of this year allegedly died two days later beside her mother 33 year-old Perry of Haughton Court in Hanover.

Perry said she carried her deceased baby to the Noel Holmes Hospital.

However, the mother said after making her report to the hospital and the police she was told an autopsy was required since the baby died in her care.

Perry said the autopsy report was delayed because of the coronavirus outbreak but after many visits to the hospital a staff member told the mother that they had cremated her baby.

Perry said she reported the matter to the Hanover Police Station and was told by a Superintendent that her baby’s dead body was not cremated and was in fact at Doiley’s Funeral Home, which was later confirmed.

However, when she finally got to see the child’s body, Perry said things got weirder, as she was convinced that the body she was shown was not the dead body of her child. To add, things got more complicated for her, as she was told by the funeral home that there was evidently a mix up of babies at the Cornwall Regional Hospital where the autopsy was conducted.

The Noel Holmes Hospital was contacted on the matter however; the Receptionist said there was no staff present to speak on the case.
