Regret on all sides. Since the closure of the Blue Lagoon, a popular tourist attraction in Portland, craft vendors and other operators have been suffering from financial setbacks. They have stated their readiness to work, noting the completion of training and other changes that were required for the much awaited reopening.

But Chief Executive Officer of the Portland Municipal Corporation, Jennifer Brown-Cunningham says the months long delay is due to the operators still not meeting the necessary requirements. She also addressed rumors that the entity will be discontinuing commercial activities in the space, adding this is yet to be decided.

Concerns were also raised regarding the barriers that render the road leading to the entity inaccessible, as the groups queried who approved this measure. Brown-Cunningham says no such request came to the municipal corporation while reaffirming her support for the entity’s closure.

The Blue Lagoon has been closed since August for restructuring. It was initially expected to reopen in October.
