The Senate at the end of last week passed the Pensions Bill paving the way for early retirement of Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) members. The bill seeks to validate the approval granted by the governor-general for early retirement for members of the JCF.

On Friday, the Senate passed the bill to validate approval for early retirement of members of the JCF.

Government Senator Matthew Samuda tabled the legislation. The senator points out that prior to April 1, 2018 a number of officers applied for early retirement having met the eligibility criteria. 

Senator Samuda says the legislation would’ve affected twenty-three officers who retired during that period. More details here:
