Andre Ruddock, the man accused of murdering Taneka Gardner at the Pathways International Kingdom Ministries on Sunday, October 17, appeared before the Home Circuit Court in Downtown, Kingston to answer to charges laid against him.

He appeared by way of a Voluntary Bill of Indictment by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Paula Llewellyn. Ruddock has been granted a legal aid counsel as well as a senior counsel to lead.

According to police reports another man bled to death. Ruddock has been charged with one count of murder and one count of wounding with intent. Two people were to be in the docks on Wednesday, October 27, Andre Ruddock and Dr. Kevin Smith, the leader of the church or His Excellency as he is referred to. But following Monday morning’s three-vehicle collision on church street in the vicinity of the Linstead bypass, Smith and a police officer died as a result of injuries sustained.

Smith has been charged posthumously with two counts of murder and conspiracy to murder, as well as wounding with intent and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Director of Public Prosecutions, Paula Llewelyn gave insight into what happened in court. The DPP sought to explain why the matter was transferred to the Supreme Court. The major investigations division continues to probe the incident as the circumstances surrounding Smith’s death remain in question in the court of public opinion.
