The police are now following strong leads into the fatal shooting of 6 men, three fatally in the community of Maverley in Kingston 20, on Thursday night. Police theorize the incident is gang related. They have also ramped up police presence in the area. The bloodletting across the country continues, as three men were shot and killed in the Maverley community on west main drive in Kingston 20 on Thursday night.

Three other men were injured as gunmen drove up in a white car and opened fire at the group standing on this corner. Only one of the deceased has been identified, he is Demoy Mills of Moberly Avenue which is also in the Kingston 20 community.

A team of police who were in the area responded to the incident immediately and engaged the gunmen, resulting in a running gun battle. The gunmen who abandoned the car they were traveling in managed to evade the police.

Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson who visited the scene says the car is in police custody and they are following strong leads. Major General Anderson says of late, the area’s been relatively calm as there’s been consistent deployment of police as well as community meetings. Meanwhile, head of the St. Andrew south police division, Senior Superintendent Kirk Ricketts says the gangs in the space go by monikers within the local areas.
