A family of 6 is now homeless after fire destroyed their St. Mary home on Thursday.

The family suspects an iron that was left plugged in is the source of the blaze. While no one was injured in the fire, reports are that the family may be looking at an estimate of 1.5 million dollars’ worth of damage. Police reports are that three children, ages 7, 3 and 2 were left at home while the two women residing in the home allegedly went out to party.

The children’s grandfather, Curtis brock told CVM Live, he was at the house with the children at the time of the fire. Brock has his suspicions as to how the blaze began. Brock says the family lost everything. He recalls trying to get back inside to save a few items but admits he would’ve likely lost his life in the process. Two Fire Units from Ocho Rios and St. Ann’s bay were used to contain and successfully extinguish the fire.
